Microtome Alignment Tools

These precision manufactured alignment tools allow all microtomes in the laboratory to be very closely aligned. Small biopsies can then be recut on a different microtome without losing tissue by retrimmimg.

If one microtome is used to trim all the blocks in the laboratory then all microtomes can be similarly aligned.

Method -

Clamp the smaller part, which has a rear profile the same size as a standard cassette, into the block clamp. Remove the knife holder assembly, place the larger part onto the microtome base and slide it towards the block clamp. When the two parts are close together operate the block clamp alignment screws to set the 'block' face to be parallel in both planes to the vertical face of the larger part.
